stainless steel vessel

Short description

main components

A stainless steel vessel contains water/foam as premixed or the water gets mixed with foam in case of release. The dimension of the vessel will be the result of calculation of the existing fire load density or surfaces or is specified by expertise.

The propellant is compressed air, stored in the high pressure cylinders 200 bar. The pneumatic valves, used and established in many fire extinguishing systems, are controlling the system.

The core component of the system is the MicroCAFS mixing valve in which the compressed air foam will be produced by the patented mixing technology of MicroCAFS.

The significant difference to other extinguishing systems, in which only corresponding wetting or foam agents are dosed, is that there is no ambient air needed at the nozzles. The foam will be produced in the mixing valve by insertion of air and cannot be affected by external influences as for example fire smoke.

According to the efficiency of the patented mixing valve, a working pressure of up to 8 bar is sufficient.

The regulation for compressed air foam systems is EN 16327 (DIN 14430) and ISO 7076. The safety requirement of this regulations by CAFS is a maximum working pressure of 10 bar, especially for hand held nozzle applications.

After specific agreements between the business partners and a risc analysis of the final customer, it is possible to agree a higher working pressure in special cases.

However we consider the compliance of the maximum pressure of 10 bar as absolutely necessary for the security of the operating personal, especially for systems where hand-held nozzles are in use.

  • stand alone extinguishing unit
  • no external power supply
  • independent from water supply

The activation of the system is triggered by a pressure loss in a detection tube / control tube. The pressure loss can be initiated by an electro-pneumatic valve or by hand release. The release valves controlling the detection tube are positioned on top of the high pressure cylinders.

The propellant air for the system gets into the vessel and the mixing valve by separate pressure reducer. The foam agent/water mixture is pressed through the discharge unit at the tank bottom into the mixing valve and mixed with the compressed air.

The patented mixing valve is designed according to the needed flow rate.

With the patented mixing technology it is not necessary to separate air support for discharging water/foam and CAFS mixing.

The ready mixed compressed air foam gets by distribution pipes to the sprinklers or nozzles.
